Dear colleagues and friends,

I have two vacancies in my laboratory
(http://www.umfg.sav.sk/laboratories/lb/index.html) to fill. One position is
PhD student position for and will last up to three years. The second is postdoctoral position and will last up to two years. I will appreciate if you could
spread this information among your coworkers, who can be perhaps interested
in it.

The conditions are very attractive. Positions are within Marie Curie
research training network CavNet (http://www.cav-net.org/index.html) -
Calcium channels in health and disease.

PhD student will be trained in preparation of slices and acutely isolated
cells from murine hippocampus, in patch clamp technique and in various
methods of data analysis is available up to 3 years. Good working knowledge
of English language and basic computer skills are required. Advanced
computer proficiency as well as some background in mathematics and physics
are an advantage, but are not required.

Post-doctoral student will analyse molecular and electrophysiological
properties of murine hippocampal cells at various developmental stages.
Familiarity with methods of molecular biology such as RT-PCR and single cell
PCR, microarray-based large-scale gene expression analysis or alternatively,
with patch clamp technique is an advantage, but not required.
Successful candidates will receive salary according to EU conditions, which
may be particularly interesting considering relatively low living expenses
in Bratislava. Roughly, salaries will be 1750.- Euro for PhD student resp.
2700.- Euro for post-doc plus monthly mobility allowance. Employees will
receive additional benefits like generous travel money for attending
international conferences and training courses. Furthermore, they will have
chance to spend several weeks/months in other laboratories within the
network and will participate in training courses organized jointly by CavNet
members and in annual group meetings held in attractive locations.
