The quantal properties of neurotransmitter release in primary afferent synapses on dorsal horn neurons in co-culture were characterized (Shypshyna et al., 2011).

The contribution of pre- and postsynaptic mechanisms to the expression of long-term depression (LTD) in these synapses was elucidated (Shypshyna et al., 2013).

The role of Ca²⁺-permeable AMPA receptors in modulating paired-pulse depression (PPD) of glutamatergic neurotransmission in nociceptive sensory synapses was determined (Shypshyna et al., 2015).

A modulatory effect of peptide neuroprotectors on glutamatergic neurotransmission in synapses formed by sensory neurons on dorsal horn neurons was revealed in a model of short-term hyperglycemia (Shypshyna et al., 2015).
