Our methods
Animal (rat) models of pathologies:

Animal models
  • Rotenone Parkinson desease model;
  • Streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetes;
  • Doxorubicin-indused oxidative stress;
  • Anoxia-reoxigenation oxidative stress;
  • Culture of neonatal cardiomyocytes (in collaboration).

In our Department we do: Microscopy:

Microscopy
  • Transmitted light microscopy;

Immunochemistry:

  • Western blot;

Western blot

Biochemical:

  • Determination of the oxidative and nitrosatitative stresses - hydrogen peroxide, superoxide radical, hydroxyl radical, diene conjugates, malonic dialdehyde in homogenates of the heart, aorta, medulla oblongata and suspension of mitochondria;
  • Determination of the antioxidant system activity (SODs, catalase, GSH-Px)
  • Polarographic investigation of tissue PO2 and mitochondrial respiration

(V. Portnichenko, A. Sidorenko, M. Kolcheva)

Studying of the pattern of breathing at small laboratory animals Methods of pathological conditions correction:

  • Nonpharmacological - IHT (interval hypoxy training)
  • Pharmacological – flavonoids, drugs, etc.
