Gender Equality at the Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology, NAS of Ukraine The O.O. Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (BIPH) is committed to the principles of equal opportunities, non-discrimination and gender equality in all areas of its research, educational and administrative activities.
- BIPH promotes a professional and academic environment based on respect, integrity, fairness and transparency. Equal treatment is ensured in recruitment procedures, career progression, appointment to leadership positions, access to research funding and participation in decision-making bodies.
- Gender balance and equal representation are considered important elements of sustainable institutional development and research excellence. Where scientifically relevant, researchers are encouraged to take sex and gender aspects into account in research design and analysis.
- In accordance with the requirements of the Horizon Europe programme, IFB has adopted a Gender Equality Plan (GEP) for the period 2026–2030. The Plan outlines measures for monitoring gender balance, preventing discrimination and fostering an inclusive working environment.

Implementation
Training and Awareness-Raising Activities
The Institute ensures regular awareness-raising activities and training on gender equality for staff and decision-makers.
- Training activities include:
- gender equality principles and institutional policies,
- prevention of gender-based discrimination and harassment,
- unconscious gender bias in recruitment, evaluation, and decision-making processes,
- integration of the gender dimension into research and teaching.
These activities are implemented within the framework of the Gender Equality Plan and are aimed at fostering an inclusive, respectful and equitable working environment.
