Monitoring the Contribution of Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology to the Development of the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The UN Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal plan of action aimed at ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity for all. Science and scientific institutions play a key role in achieving these goals by generating knowledge, innovation, developing solutions, and shaping policies. Monitoring the contribution of the IPP NAS of Ukraine to the achievement of the SDGs is the systematic tracking, analysis, and presentation of how the Institute's scientific, educational, innovative, and social activities contribute to the implementation of these goals.

1. Analysis of SDG relevance for BIPH NASU showed that out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the most relevant to the Institute's activities are:

• SDG 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
• SDG 4: Quality education
• SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
• SDG 13: Climate action (in the context of biological adaptation research)

2.The Institute is launching the formation of an internal database on IPP NASU activities in the context of the SDGs

Data collection in the following areas: *Scientific research topics aligned with the SDGs *Educational programs, courses, PhD training *Publications and conferences *Popularization of science and scientific diplomacy *International cooperation in the context of the SDGs

3. Monitoring form for contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The administration is initiating the completion of a form in which each structural unit annually indicates how its activities relate to the SDGs, based on key indicators:

• Number of research projects / publications in the relevant subject area
• Participation in international projects related to the SDGs
• Partnerships with other institutions
• Communication and public presentation of the contribution

After analyzing the collected information, the administration will:

• Publish an annual analytical report or brochure
• Include this data in presentations for the NAS of Ukraine, international partners, and donors

4. Integration with international initiatives

The Institute will initiate cooperation with Ukrainian and international platforms for sustainable development in science, for example:

• SDSN (Sustainable Development Solutions Network)
• GUNi (Global University Network for Innovation)

The monitoring result will allow for:

• Increasing the Institute's international visibility
• Improving positions in international rankings (e.g., Times Higher Education Impact Rankings) *Ensuring transparency and social responsibility of BIPH NASU activities
• Facilitating the preparation of analytical and reporting documentation for scientific councils, grants, government agencies, and international partners
