About Members Research Collaborators Methods History Selected Publications Grants Contacts Our methods Animal (rat) models of pathologies: Rotenone Parkinson desease model; Streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetes; Doxorubicin-indused oxidative stress; Anoxia-reoxigenation oxidative stress; ulture of neonatal cardiomyocytes (in collaboration). In our Department we do: Microscopy: Transmitted light microscopy; Immunochemistry: Western blot; Biochemical: Determination of the oxidative and nitrosatitative stresses - hydrogen peroxide, superoxide radical, hydroxyl radical, diene conjugates, malonic dialdehyde in homogenates of the heart, aorta, medulla oblongata and suspension of mitochondria; Determination of the antioxidant system activity (SODs, catalase, GSH-Px) Polarographic investigation of tissue PO2 and mitochondrial respiration Studying of the pattern of breathing at small laboratory animals Methods of pathological conditions correction: Nonpharmacological - IHT (interval hypoxy training) Pharmacological – flavonoids, drugs, etc. Medico-biological investigations at the Ukrainian Antarctic Station Academician Vernadsky. In collaboration with other Departments: Microscopy: Fluorescence microscopy; Confocal laser-scanning microscopy; Molecular biology: Heterologous expression; Cells transformation; mRNA isolation; Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)
